Cool! We had a Beagle growing up. Hunting, digging, rolling in poop, eating anything in sight, running away…that was her! She was impossible to train, so stubborn & smart. She was also so sweet, loving & patient. We’d dress her up, take her everywhere and she’d sleep in my bed every night. A really fun family dog:)

Sounds like a very thorough and helpful report!!! Pixie should calm down a bit in time – puppies are a handful……but at least you know what to expect. I just think it’s great she and Cocco have become buddies – makes for a lot less “tension” between them which of course means more PEACE in the household!!!!

    Hugs, Pam and Sam

Sounds like a great service for people in your situation – good to know what size a rescue pup will reach and more importantly, how to go about training. She’s gorgeous whatever the mix!

So much fun. You should look into training Pixie for Canine Nose Work. It’s a great alternative to hunting – hunting for a scent. And you can do it in the house or right in the yard. I do a very watered down version with Cupcake to keep her little mind from getting lazy.

Wow Pixie, you have fabulous breeds inside :o) and to have some Terrier inside is anyway the best. Thanks for a great review, I’m glad that it is possible to find out more about your dog via Wisdom Panel.

This is all VERY much INTERESTING information… about PIXI and about the DNA Company. THANKS fur Sharing it with us.

That is SO cool!! If we get another dog from the shelter, we’re definitely going through Wisdom Panel rather than guessing every step of the way. It’s so important to have an idea of the breeds that make up your dog because it really helps you to know what problems they could possibly develop and try to head them off when possible, not to mention understanding temperaments better, which helps with training. Thanks so much for sharing this!

That’s great! We also had our dogs’ DNA checked after we adopted our second pup from a shelter. They thought she was mostly Australian Shepherd, but it turned out she was Doberman and Husky! lol This information was very helpful when understanding her behavior and with her everyday training. I highly recommend having this done if you don’t know what breed your dog is so you can prepare yourself for his/her needs and temperament.
On another note…this is my first time commenting on your site. 6 weeks ago, we adopted a mini pig from a girl who quickly realized that she couldn’t give him the time and care that he needed. He is now just over 4 months old, and his name is Joey. I wanted to thank you for all your help.I found your site days after we got him, and have found it EXTREMELY helpful. It’s been a challenge, but we love him dearly. (he’s snuggled on my lap as I type) Without your help, we may have given up weeks ago!
Thanks again…hugs to you and your crew.

Thank you so much for your comment. It really makes me so happy to know that I can help because these mini pigs are a mystery much of the time. One thing is for sure : they love their cuddles ๐Ÿ™‚

We actually had the same experience. We adopted a shelter dog as a puppy and were told it was a lab mix. Only thing was the “puppy” kept getting bigger and bigger and did not have the same disposition that our Lab did. We began to wonder if there was Great Dane in his background because of the size. We too did the Wisdom Panel – it was very easy. We were amazed at the results, but they really helped us with his training. He did have Lab in his background on his mother’s side, but on his father’s side he was purebred German Shepherd. On his mother’s side there was also some Saint Bernard and a few other breeds. He is a wonderful dog and knowing the breeds we were dealing with really helped us with his training.

This Wisdom Panel sounds wll worth it. I thought Pixie was both Beagle & Spaniel…but it is good to verify things.
she has grown so much ๐Ÿ˜‰
Give her a *kiss* for me ok??
