I have to admit it: the kids and I are just as excited as Cocco when his PetBox arrives. Even though I choose the items that will be delivered (by choice), it is still so exciting to open up that special blue box every month! It’s like opening up a box worth of entertainment and treats for the month.
The PetBox this month included the following items:
-Lobster Bottle Crusher
-Bungee Skinneeez Tiger
-Skinneeez Plus Duck
-Pure Buffalo Bully Stick
– 7″ Round Bone
Because PetBox is always refreshing their stock and adding new items, some of the contents of our package do not have links.
Some features of the Lobster Bottle Crusher:
~ Fun plush toy holds one empty water bottle
~ Velcro opening for easy replacement of bottles
~ One water bottle included
~ No stuffing
This crusher bottle is a lot of fun to get that “crunch” your pet craves. Cocco and Pixie couldn’t help themselves fighting over this one. At first Cocco wasn’t sure what to do with it but Pixie figured it out right away! I put some treats in the water bottle (and kept the cap off) so Cocco was enticed and then he wouldn’t surrender it to Pixie.
The best part about this toy is that it is reusable, over and over again. Just put an empty water bottle in and they get to crush away!
Some features of the Bungee Skinneeez Tiger:
~ Squeaker inside
~ No stuffing
~ Stretches up to 36″ Long
This durable toy is one of the kids’ favorite. I know, get a PetBox for the pets right? Well, if you have kids, you have no idea how much better these toys are! The kids get Pixie all riled up with this toy and love playing tug of war with her. The best part is that Cocco almost always joins in. He doesn’t play tug of war, that’s not his thing, but he gets right in the middle and all the commotion causes him to run around like a wild piggy 🙂
Skinneeez Plus Duck
Some features of the Skinneeez Plus Duck:
~ Stuffing free toy
~ Giant squeaker that stretches all the way from the neck through the body
This duck is Pixie’s favorite. So much so that she keeps trying to see what’s inside the duck. I try to keep it away from her when we aren’t around but she always finds it. The squeaker is just too irresistible.
Just like with the tiger, Pixie starts playing fetch with the duck, running from one side of one room all the way to another side of a conjoining room. She goes a little crazy and Cocco is usually right in the middle of those two rooms, enjoying some sun from the front door. Eventually she either drives him crazy enough that he joins in on the run or he gets out of her way and goes to his own room.
I think once Pixie does get to discover what’s inside the duck, we will have to buy another. They’ve bonded.
Some features of the Pure Buffalo Bully Stick:
~ Helps maintain dental health by removing tartar and massaging gums
~ Helps prevent destructive chewing by satisfying the natural desire to chew
~ Buffalo is healthier, leaner alternative to beef
~ 12″ long
Okay, let’s get down to the goodies.
Allowing a pet pig to consume meat is a very divided and controversial subject. Will pigs eat meat? Absolutely. Should they? That’s really up to the pig parent, according to our vet.
On a regular basis, Coccolino gets no meat. He is our vegetarian pig. I’m not sure why it doesn’t bother me when Pixie eats a slice of turkey but it does when Coccolino does.
So why would I pick out a long buffalo bone? You might have guessed it: because Coccolino loves to chew and needs something very long lasting to endure his powerful and crushing jaws.
Cocco started grinding his teeth pretty much from the day we brought him home. It is not the most pleasant sound but it’s normal for pigs to do this and Coccolino still does. So I decided to offer him something to chew on other than his own teeth.
To say Coccolino loved this bone was an understatement. He thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this bone and it really did last longer than I expected. I didn’t allow him to eat it all at once as he would have done, whether taking minutes or hours, but I offered it to him over a weeklong period to stretch it out.
The only problem we faced was the tug of war battle with Pixie that Cocco had to win.
Pigs are creatures of habit and so when he finally finished that bone, he was wondering where the next one was at his now routine bone-chomping time.
Lucky for him, I picked out another bone!
~ 100% Natural Free Range and Grass Fed Water Buffalo
~ Non Splintering, Non Abrasive
~ Best for small breed dogs
This big chew bone is high in protein and extremely low in fat. It is also marketed as being very long lasting, the main reason I decided to choose this bone. I am glad I did.
It held up very well to the previous bully stick and what’s great about it is that even after Cocco chewed off all the “good parts” I can now just add some yogurt or peanut butter inside for him to try to get to. It keeps him very busy though Pixie tries to get it every chance she can!
We had a lot of fun with the PetBox this month but already cannot wait to receive our next box. We picked some really great and unique things and I can’t wait to explore them when that exciting blue box arrives in the mail 🙂
