My Mini Pet Pig . . . and Pals!

Life lately: pig and dog cuddles and kitchen disaster

Hi Everyone,

This has been quite a month. We are absent more than we are around, I truly apologize for not being caught up with any of you and Coccolino is loudly grunting that I take full responsibility (which I do).

Life lately has included a lot of bathing in rare sun puddles:

and some kisses and cuddles between pig and puppy:

It has also included many orders from my shop. I am very grateful for all these orders but have received so many I have actually had to place my shop on “vacation mode” to finish up current orders!

More pressing lately, life has included this:

That is my kitchen. Two huge (at least 200 pounds each) and several smaller but still sizable ice blocks came crashing through our kitchen skylights. It broke our granite, smashed our dishwasher, dented our floor and left hundreds of ice and glass pieces scattered in the kitchen, hall and even basement stairs.

My kitchen will be fixed, hoping insurance comes through for us, but I am just beyond grateful that the kids and pets were not in the kitchen at that time. I was just washing dishes about 15 minutes before this and happened to usher the kids into the playroom so I could run upstairs and take a shower. When the crashing began, I was upstairs and they were downstairs and my heart nearly stopped. I couldn’t even imagine what that noise was.

Thankfully nobody was hurt. Cocco wasn’t standing by his favorite heater in the kitchen, Pixie wasn’t scouting for squirrels out the kitchen windows, the kids were done with their snack and I was done with the dishes. It was extremely scary, and now it’s just a mess that seems to never end, but I can only be grateful nobody was in the kitchen.

I have been thinking of all you friends and I do apologize. I think it’s safe to say we are going to take a bit of an official break until I get things back in order. Please know I think of all of you frequently.

I want to send heartfelt hugs and warm thoughts to our dear friends Shelldon, Beachnut and Sarge on the loss of Crabby Girl Oceana. It is heartbreaking and we are thinking of you. Thank you, Lassie and Benji, for waking us up!

We will be back as soon as we can.

~ Katie and your snorty piggy friend Coccolino

Oh my goodness. The ice blocks even smashed the granite. Wow! So pleased all the family are safe and unharmed (and that you have insurance…)

Oh but that photo of pig and puppy kissing is SO adorable.

All the best for a less eventful April…

    Cheers,
    Gail (and Bertie).

OMD that looks like a meteoritic impact. I’m so sorry that such an awful thing happened to you… and I’m glad no one was hurt. I hope the insurance will pay and your kitchen will be fixed soon. This winter was from hell… and it brought a lot of bad things to peeps&pets.

  3. Lassie and Benji

Thank goodness no one was hurt.

We were so shocked by the pictures of the damage, we had to keep staring at them.

We hope spring time comes soon! We had enough of this cold weather!

Oh what an incredibly scary and messy thing to happen but what a HUGE blessing and miracle that nobody was hurt when it happened. That would have been a major weight on those skylights for sure with all that ice – it’s been an exceptionally icy winter even here. SO HAPPY YOU’RE ALL OK!!! Glad the shop has been busy but my sister had to do the same thing when she had a baby quilt online business some years ago – too many orders to keep up with – she was exhausted all the time…..eventually she closed her shop down so she could have a life (hahaha). Anyway, sending all of you hugs – glad to hear from you – hope your kitchen is back up and running ASAP!

    Hugs, Pam (and Sammy)

KATIE OMCS/OMPS/OMDS THIS IS SO VERY SCARY THE TIMING WAS A BLESSING. BLESS YOUR HEART. I KNOW YOU MUST HAVE BEEN HORRIFIED AT THE NOISE THEN TO SEE WHAT CAUSED IT.
AFTER IT WAS ALL SAID AND DONE AND NOSES AND PAWS AND HOOVES WERE COUNTED I WOULD HAVE CRIED. I HOPE THE REPAIR IS SWIFT AND COST FREE.
BE SURE TO SHOW US PICS AFTER THE REPAIR.

OH NO!!! That’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen. You are all so blessed, though, that none of you were in the kitchen at that moment. I can only imagine how your heart froze when you heard the crash and the disbelief you must have felt when you saw what it was!! I can’t imagine what excuse an insurance company could have not to cover that. And I can’t imagine how you were able to close up the hole in the ceiling/roof during such a cold time of year! I’m so glad you’re all okay. Take your time about coming back, you have your hands overfull right now. We’ll still be here! 🙂

Oh dear God!!! Thank GOD you are all ok! You definitely had someone watching you from above. Thank goodness NO ONE was hurt! Of course insurance will come through for you, how could they not? I am soooo sorry that this all happened, I would just die!
    We have missed you……..
Love the photo of the two “new best friends” kissing…that is beyond adorable.
Wish I could give you a giant hug right now!

Holy Guacamole Katie!!!! My jaw is still on the floor looking at your photos’. Than G-D none of you were in the kitchen when that happened…..
I hope & pray the Insurance will cover the costs & that you will be able to clean things up so there is no loose glass anywhere.
There was damage to some apartments here also; water streaming in like a ‘rain forest’ due to an Ice Jam on the roof. I was spared & am so-o grateful. My drainage pipe did break tho’. 2 of them are complete down on the back of the building! It was a savage Winter for us…
Please know you are in my prayers.

Hello. We have a teacup pig, Suey. And, quite frankly, she is a bully and mean. I’m a dog trainer and have been very good to her. She is manipulative and stubborn. I could go on and on,and would love to talk with you. Email me back if you’re interested. Thanks

I’m so sorry. I know pigs have their stubborn side. Please read through comments and feel free to write in the forum to engage with other pig parents.
